The Motorola Mobility Foundation (“the Foundation”) – the philanthropic arm of Motorola Mobility LLC, a Lenovo company – recognizes that privacy and security are important for our customers and website users. This privacy statement applies to the online and offline collection of personal information from participants in the Chicago Maker Challenge, as sponsored by the Motorola Mobility Foundation, in partnership with Chicago Public Library.  This privacy statement does not apply to any other website or program sponsored by Motorola Mobility.

THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.  IT WAS LAST UPDATED ON DECEMBER 20, 2015 IN ORDER TO CLARIFY THE INTENDED AUDIENCE FOR CHICAGO MAKER CHALLENGE UPDATES.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION IS COLLECTED?

We collect personal information you voluntarily choose to provide such as your name, address, email address, phone numbers, date of birth and/or other categories of personal information.

In addition, participants may be asked to submit additional personal information, including images or likenesses, to support their participation or entry into the Impact Illinois Challenge.

Mentors or other adult participants may also be asked to submit to a background screening, as needed, to be conducted by a third party.  The background screening may require the collection of additional personal information.

Our web server logs may collect additional information, such as the domain names of visitors to our web sites, in order to measure the use of our web sites and to improve content.

We may use cookies to manage areas of our web site and to deliver a better website experience to our users. You have choices with respect to cookies including, but not limited to, modifying your browser’s settings to accept or reject cookies.

HOW IS MY PERSONAL INFORMATION USED?

Except as outlined in this statement, we will only use personal information to facilitate your participation as a registrant, contestant, mentor or other participant in the Chicago Maker Challenge; to contact you with important information regarding your participation; or for other uses consistent with this statement.

Except as outlined in this statement or on our web sites, we do not provide your personal information to third parties without your consent.

We may share your personal information with other Chicago Maker Challenge partners, agents and Motorola subsidiaries and related companies so that they may support Chicago Maker Challenge activities.

In addition, we may disclose personal information in special cases, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.

WHAT CHOICES DO I HAVE?

You have the right to seek access to and request correction of any personal information that the Chicago Maker Challenge holds about you by contacting ChicagoMakerChallenge@gmail.com.

If you have established a “user profile” on this website, you may change the information you provided by visiting that portion of the website and resubmitting your information.

Please note that by refusing to provide personal information or by denying or withdrawing consent to use personal information for purposes identified, you may be unable to participate in the Chicago Maker Challenge.

WHAT ABOUT INFORMATION SECURITY?

When you provide your personal information to Chicago Maker Challenge, we employ certain security measures, such as encryption, where appropriate.

The personal information you provide may be transmitted, used, stored and otherwise processed outside of the United States.

Regardless of where these activities occur, we take appropriate steps to ensure that your information is treated securely.

WHAT ABOUT THE PRIVACY OF MY CHILD WHO IS UNDER 13?

Students of any age cannot compete in the Chicago Maker Challenge without parental consent. Certain offline registration information may be collected from participants under the age of 13. Parental Consent must be received from every participant by May 8, 2015 at the very latest in order for them to participate. Participants who attend the Launch Party will not be able to attend without a signed Parental Consent form. Any registrant that has signed up for the competition but does not complete a parental consent form will be barred from competition and his/her information will be deleted from the sign-up database.
